From Atelier Esthetique to International Magazines: Meet Whitney Geene’

Atelier success story, Whitney Genee'

Recently seen in the pages of Harper’s Bazaar in two separate issues, makeup artist Whitney Genee’ has found success styling people to be featured in international magazines. But not too long ago, Whitney was a student learning the ins and outs of esthetics at Atelier Esthetique Institute. Only a few months after graduation, Whitney found incredible success in her career and designed looks worldwide.

Whitney’s Time at Atelier Esthetique Institute

Having worked as a hair and makeup stylist for the past decade, Whitney Genee’ wanted to expand her career and get an esthetics license to open new doors. “I love being able to educate my clients – because the best foundation is skincare – so I like to chat with them and make recommendations as I do their makeup, introduce new services, etc.” While educating her clients, Whitney began educating herself as well.

Whitney enrolled at Atelier Esthetique Institute in the spring of 2023, beginning classes on the evening schedule while continuing to work full-time. During the 32-week program, Whitney learned the ins and outs of esthetics, particularly for a field she was passionate about. “My favorite class of course, was makeup, and my favorite [advanced course] was learning permanent makeup.”

After graduating last December, Whitney passed the state esthetics boards on her first attempt. Her studying and experience had been a massive help, but the very humble Whitney gave credit elsewhere, saying, “I was prepared thanks to the amazing instructors at Atelier!”

Getting Published in Harper’s Bazaar

Whitney’s career has taken her across the globe, including participating in fashion shows internationally. At Milan Fashion Week in February of 2024, Whitney helped design looks and do makeup for designer Mila Hoffman. Hoffman is a children’s couture designer who creates elaborate and beautiful gowns and suits for younger people.

Hoffman’s creations made waves in Milan, and images from the fashion week show were picked up by Harper’s Bazaar, one of the most respected fashion magazines in the world. “It was a great experience,” Whitney told us about her time in Milan, “I got to work with an incredible designer… and the rest was history!”

When you see some of Whitney’s work, you can understand how she has become so successful. “I’m published in 6 countries, including the U.S. The first time I was published was in 2015.” Her hard work has paid off, and her new skills learned at Atelier Esthetique are making their way into her repertoire, particularly in permanent makeup.

What’s Next for Whitney Genee’?

Already successful in her career, Whitney keeps reaching higher. “I’m entertaining all offers and will keep going; all gas, no brakes! I love being booked and busy so I’ll continue to work hard to stay that way.” Fashion shoots, runway looks, wedding designs, and more–Whitney can do it all.

But Whitney’s roots are still important to her. “Fun fact my industry name is “Whitney Genee’ Esthetique” as a tribute to the school, my training and my glow-up in the industry.” We couldn’t be prouder of all Whitney has accomplished, and we can’t wait to see where she goes next. You can learn more about Whitney and see some of the incredible work from Whitney Genee’ Esthetique on her website or her Instagram.
