The Lymphatic System is the bodies' internal cleanser. Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) increases the rate of detoxification and nourishment of the skin and underlying tissue. These effects continue after treatment because MLD clears congested tissue, vessels and lymph nodes enabling them to process inflammation and toxins more efficiently after treatment. MLD is deeply relaxing, tapping into the parasympathetic nervous system and balancing hormones. The benefits are skin health and rejuvenation, the maintenance of skin elasticity and a youthful appearance. It is helpful in managing acne, rosacea, puffiness and edema after surgery.
This 16-hour segments. Part One includes Anatomy and Physiology of the Lymphatic System, MLD technique, and a full one-hour treatment template for MLD of the Face. With this template estheticians will be able to design/create/individualize treatments of any length to meet the needs of each client.
In addition to the basic theory behind MLD, and basic practical application, you will learn (theory and practical):
Lynn Hawxhurst is the founder of Lymphatic Healing in Stamford, Connecticut, offering Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Combined Decongestive Therapy and Orthobionomy®. She completed her undergraduate studies at the Hartt College of Music in 1979. Her years working with musical artists and dance companies opened her eyes to repetitive performance injuries and sparked her interest in bodywork. She has been a New York and Connecticut Licensed Massage Therapist since 1995 and a Certified Lymphedema Therapist since 2011.
Lynn received her massage therapy training at the Swedish Institute in NYC in 1994/5. She completed her CLT certification in The Alatriste Method (TAM) of MLD and Lymphedema Management under Michael Alatriste in 2010/11. TAM was the first MLD training program offering 30 weekly classes including a clinical internship, giving students the time necessary to properly integrate MLD techniques and to work with lymphedema patients. After completing her training, Lynn spent a year at the Alatriste lymphedema clinic, while maintaining her own private practice in Connecticut. Since 2012 Lynn has served as Teaching Assistant, then Co-teacher, and ultimately Instructor and Coordinator for TAM's continuing education certification courses. She was also an Adjunct Instructor at the Swedish Institute, teaching their "Intro to Manual Lymphatic Drainage" course to their undergraduate massage therapy students.
Lynn has continued her lymph drainage training with the Chikly Institute and with Liz Olivas of the Therapeutic Alternative in Boca Raton, FL. She has studied many other modalities over the years, principally Ortho-bionomy®, as well as, CranioSacral Therapy, Peri-Natal massage and Reiki.
